CUP2SNOW'S FANCY PICKLINGCert. BD/OGNEW!40-50 days.60 days but we tend to pick them earlier at 4 inches or smaller for pickling. 'Snow's Fancy Pickling' cucumber vines produce good yields of five inch long by one and one-half inch in diameter cucumbers.Keeping them watered evenly helps to avoid biitterness in cuucumbers. Mild flavored and substantial texture for pickling yet mild when picked small then also great for salads. Keep the cucumbers picked to encourage more fruit production throughout the season. Bred by Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station for the Association of National Pickle Packers in the 1920s, these thin-skinned cukes are perfectly shaped for your canning jar. Crisp and flavorful fresh from the garden as well! This variety was reportedly developed as a selection of 'Chicago Pickling' by Mr. Junius C. Snow, a pickle producer in Rockford, Illinois around the turn of the 20th Century.[2] By 1905, Vaughan's Seed House of Chicago offered it in their catalog.[1] It is a good choice for small pickle production. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 35 to 40 seeds.
